A Very "Crumby" Interview

THE QUEEN Cupcake: Red Velvet. My Fave. Duh.
The Cookie Dough Cupcake
I've never done a group interview before. But, today was my day. A couple days ago I got invited to come interview at Crumbs Cupcake Shop. If you know me, you know that baking is my game. You have no idea how hard it has been here without supplies to make a batch of cupcakes or weird desserts that I found on foodnetwork.com.

The "Good Guy" Cupcake. You can see why.

When I walked into the Crumbs Headquarters on 40th street (after taking my 2nd metro, but this time by myself!), I was not expecting the quirky interview that was going to happen. I was surprised when I walked into the room because there were a lot more people than the 6 she mentioned would be there in the e-mail confirming the interview. We started out with group questions about our experiences--how to deal with grumpy customers, what we would need as employees in order to succeed at our jobs, etc. THEN, they went all UNC-DM on me. We were answering the quirkiest questions. Some were about cupcakes. Some about our unique abilities or superhero qualities. We completed a timed math assignment (yes... thank goodness for precalculus last semester...sorta) and we played a memorization game with cupcakes. Lastly, we completed about 3-4 short answer questions about our desires to work at Crumbs and our favorite part of customer service.
Well, FANTASTIC! That interview is over. If you know me, too, you know I like interviews like I like to be walking without an umbrella when the sky decides to open up with rain. Not.At.All.  I am not feeling too positive about the interview because she said we wouldn't find out for another 2 weeks...That's a pretty big chunk of my time here. So I'm jobless. I guess I just wanted a job so that I could do some big things in the city (like expensive shows or shoes or museums). But, the job market is tough. I'll keep trying, despite me not being a good candidate for most employers.

Speaking of rain, I was supposed to head out to the Black Eyed Peas concert in Central Park tonight, but as I was walking to the metro station, the sky did open up. And me being Carrie in Carrie-Land left my nice green umbrella hanging in my closet. The Peas ended up canceling the show about 15 minutes before they were supposed to perform, so it is a good thing I didn't head all the way up to 80th Street. A quick stop at
The crowds leaving Central Park tonight when BEP canceled concert
restaurant to pick up caprese (tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette) and a nutella dessert (of course), and I was a happy girl. Hashtag Sweet Tooth.

Also. New Development. An Overall Committee 2012 UNC-DM NYC trip in the works. Going Down. :)

Also. Someone asked ME for directions yesterday. I gave them to him, too. Just.... don't know if they were correct. #localstatus

Cheers to a Not-so-"Crumby" Day!

Peace.Love.NYC.
