I'm a flat sandal girl. No heels, please. I'm already 5 foot 9 for goodness sake. Unless I'm going somewhere nice. But literally none of my sandals were made for walking...
I have been so active since I've been here. I typically get up early and get home later and my only form of transportation is my two feet. I've been working out everyday, too, at the gym. That is until my right foot became so painful I could hardly walk because of a self-diagnosed incident of "fallen arches".
So I broke down. I went shopping for good solid shoes with arch support from... Aerosoles! Don't worry-- I tried to get as stylish as possible. If you come visit me (you listening, OC?), you need to wear good shoes. Sacrificing your feet for fashion is complete and utter rubbish! They were having a sale, so I got some work and travel shoes.
Speaking of work... I started my internship yesterday! They took me out to a really nice lunch and introduced me to everyone in the office and I've been working on the Times Square Video. It's so cute to see all the pictures people have been sending in, which reminds me. If you know anyone with Down Syndrome and would like to enter them in the photo contest for a chance to be on the MTV screen a couple times on September 24th right before the 17th annual NYC Buddy Walk, then enter them here.
Job Update: I got 2 interviews. One was today at Haagen Dasz. Unfortunately, I don't think they were looking for someone for the summer...They wanted someone long term and supposedly I would have to get my food license, which wouldn't be completed until the end of July, right before I leave. They did offer me a catering position, possibly.. I hear back from them tomorrow.
My second interview is Thursday at 10:30 with Crumbs Cupcake Shop. It's a group interview with 6 other people and includes a memory game with cupcakes! I'm excited and well, let me be frank, it is way harder to find a job in the city than I suspected. WHOMP.
When I'm not interning, I've been trying to stay off my feetsies to give them a break and prepare them for the WEEKEND. I've been researching and making plans. I just want to make sure none of my time here is wasted!
Sorry there are no pictures to display. Oh, and easily enough I asked about my roommate at the front desk and learned she is moving in this Sunday.
Peace, Love, & NYC,
Carrie
