Little Cables and Wooden Planks

Autism Speaks was hosting a "Walk Now for Autism" 5K down by Seaport Museum on South Street. I woke up bright and early and prepared myself for a lot of walking today, although I again did not wear appropriate shoes (Gotta be stylin', you know)...

Autism has always been something really meaningful to me and it was neat to go to another location, like New York, and see just as many families affected by autism as in North Carolina. Getting to know autism led me to know what I want to do in life-- work for a non-profit and I don't know if I would be in NYC right now if it weren't for that.

What an AMAZING place to hold a fundraiser. Downtown New York, you have my heart!

After spending some time at the location of the fundraiser-- I helped with merchandise (GET READY UNC-DM!)-- I left early because they had volunteers coming out of their noses. Next Stop, Brooklyn Bridge. People, I'm going to tell you a very big secret of mine. I do not/will not do heights. So I'm all happy-go-lucky going to the bridge, thinking that the place where people walk is equivalent to where cars go vroom vroom. The answer to that is false. It is like walking on a dock with a sea of cars below. You can see cars vrooming underneath the planks.

But a successful trip it was! Such breathtaking views of Manhattan, Manhattan Bridge (which the other bridge I was taking pictures of...), and Brooklyn! If you come to visit, this will be one place I'll have to take you. It just makes the city look.....complete and peaceful.

And Sunday mornings here in NYC are perfection. It's really relaxed. :)

I start my internship tomorrow!

Today in Pictures (I added some effects to them. The buildings look cooler to me in blank and white.)

Till Tomorrow...
Peace. Love. NYC.,
Carrie

P.S. I think the arch on my right foot is broken--is that possible? My foot feels like it does after UNC-DM!
P.P.S.S. My roommate is still not here.. Boo.
PPPSSS. I heard back from Pottery Barn today and they said they weren't looking for a summer position because they don't get a lot of turnover. Boo.
PPPPSSSS. Ran into a friend from UNC today and we are getting together sometime soon. I also got in contact with a friend from HS who was a year older than me and we're meeting up this weekend. Reunions in NYC! yay!
PPPPPSSSSS. Biggest pet peeve of the city? Smoking. EVERYONE here smokes. Stop it, people, it's not good for your lungs and causes you to get older quicker and nobody wants that...

Kids Science Fair in Washington Square today....
A tortoise from the Pennsylvania Zoo

For my sweet boy and his favorite TV show. When I went back to get a pic of the paleontologist, he had left. But I miss you and love you and think of you everyday when I see kiddies everywhere!

The city from Pier 17

I loved these signs that lined the walkways. "More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than AIDS, diabetes, & cancer COMBINED!"

What a beautiful place to have a fundraiser!

From Brooklyn Bridge

This man was so sweet and stopped to talk to me. I think he felt bad that I was taking pictures alone.

Beautiful City and WTC

Bridges and their architecture have always fascinated me..
