'Wineing' about Graduation

Four years ago from Monday, I graduated from high school. To say that I was enthusiastic about leaving/graduating would have absolutely been putting it mildly. I had BIG plans. I was ready to be on my own and to grow up. I was so completely ready to learn how to become someone more than a small-town-southern girl. I had dreams about leaving the state-- the country even-- and no one was going to stop me. I had the whole world cupped in between my two hands-- a world that would centralize just two hours west of my sleepy little hometown in Chapel Hill.

Fast forward four years and I am in the same position, just a little less enthusiastic. I left my last exam of my college career yesterday. And while I felt a sense of "Oh my gosh, I am so glad that is over", I mostly left saying, "Now what?" So I walked home and crawled into bed and watched a movie. Is that what graduates do?

We haven't graduated yet and I have a few weeks to simply enjoy Chapel Hill while everyone is still here. So trust me, I will. And I'll save the mushy gushy stuff for another day-- a graduation day-- which will come soon enough. But my inability to be idle has my brain going nuts. My brain is asking me ten times a day, "What are you doing? Hey. You have places to be...Oh, wait. Nope, you do not. Not at all." My calendar and schedule being empty is slightly alarming to this on-the-go-always-have-to-have-something-to-do gal. I'm trying to relax. But idleness is never on my list of things I'd like to do. Lesson numero 5,483,203 in my life right now has been to learn patience, which I will remind you, was one of my New Year's Resolutions. But like the goal to lose weight that I set every year, there went the patience resolution as well.

Eh, well...maybe one day I will learn. Until then...

...Fun activities like Wine & Design!

This was the "Wait.... we have to provide our own WINE at WINE & DESIGN face." Yes, it's true people.

Despite the BYOwine rule, which we were completely unaware of, this place is amazing! I definitely want to return and it was something unique for us to do. And now I have a piece of artwork for my apartment for next year...where that apartment is located: TBD.

Looking forward to the next week or two before the big day. Until then, you may hear a lot of whining from me about not wanting to leave or graduate or grow up or get a job etc.etc.etc. It's all applicable. And how in the meantime, we drink wine!

Some more pictures from the other day's trollop around campus in our robes. (Thanks again to Molly Sutherland-- she's great!)

Happy Thursday!

Always,
Carrie
