When I was on the Overall Committee for UNC Dance Marathon, we wrote what our highs and lows were for each week. Then everybody's highs would be sent out over e-mail so that we could read about what the other person had accomplished inside and outside of the marathon setting. Most of the time at least one of the fourteen of us would have something like "Made an almost perfect score on the LSAT!" or "This fundraising event was such a success!" or "Met two boys that we are helping at Parent's Night Out and their mom is really inspirational."
All of these highs were exciting because we all felt amazing just hearing each others' successes. And sometimes, if there were bad weeks, we were able to mope accordingly by offering ice cream or wine or both.
I miss doing bullets each week. It was a way for me always to be put back into perspective and to be thankful for the little things that I had accomplished and for the many things that the thirteen other individuals working towards the marathon had accomplished. The other day I was blog-hopping and found a post called "High-Five for Fridays" and I decided to try it out because of its similarity to what we did for UNC Dance Marathon. So here's my rendition!
1. I finished classes and finals this week! I gave my last presentation (tri-fold done by my group mate, Alex). Our group pretty much rocked and we left as good friends. For those who know me, presentations are my worst nightmare, so it was a high to give my last one!
2. Wine & Design was so much fun. I now have the painting currently sitting on my bedside table and I'm searching for a good place to put it. If you haven't been, you should go.
3. My friend, Abby, is a cake genius. She is the new Fundraising Projects Chair for UNC Dance Marathon and was so sweet to make me cupcakes for graduation. If you know me, making me cupcakes is like speaking right to my heart. She also made my favorite-- red velvet--and they were delicious (and gone). She is making her first wedding cake soon and she made a practice one which was so beautiful! If you ever need specialty cakes, cupcakes, or wedding cakes, Abby is your girl!
4. I know, another graduation picture. But let me tell you that our photoshoot was so much fun. Here's another one I love and another high for the week.
5. As a semi-surprise for graduation, my parents bought an ad in the Seniors' Edition of the DTH. It was so thoughtful and the picture they chose pretty much sums up my childhood (and adulthood, for that matter).
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend! I've got some tanning, job searching, broadway showing, eating, and babysitting planned!
Always,
Carrie
